Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue Four – Fifteen Hours by Mitchel Scanlon

For Issue Four of Hachette’s Warhammer 40,000 Legends Collection the action turns away from Space Marines and Inquisitors to the Imperial Guard, and a humble guardsman. Fifteen Hours by Mitchel Scanlon was first published waaaay back in 2005 and is one of those books that hasn’t quite made it to be an all-out Black Library classic, but is nonetheless held as something of an Imperial Guard must-read. A quick look on Goodreads shows it to be rated at 3.7 out of 5, which is pretty good, while on Amazon (UK) it’s got nine 5 star reviews and one 4 star review! Sounds like it’s worth a read, right?

Warhammer 40,000 Legends – Overview

On the off chance that you haven’t heard (perhaps your head’s been in the sand for the last few months), Hachette and Black Library have teamed up to create a partwork series of Black Library 40k novels called the Warhammer 40,000 Legends Collection. Every fortnight a new book is released, and over time you can build up an awesome collection of 40k novels in lovely hardback format, complete with spine artwork that fits together to create (eventually) an original piece of art featuring all manner of famous 40k characters.

Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue Three – Warriors of Ultramar by Graham McNeill

The Warhammer 40,000 Legends Collection from Hachette continues with Issue Three, featuring Warriors of Ultramar by Graham McNeill. First published way back in 2003, it sees Captain Uriel Ventris of the Ultramarines 4th Company leading his men in defence of Tarsis Ultra against the numberless monstrosities of Hive Fleet Leviathan. While not quite such a classic as Issue Two’s Xenos, it’s a popular title from a much-loved series, although there’s one oddity immediately obvious about choosing this for Issue Three…

Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue Two – Xenos by Dan Abnett

Issue 2 of Hachette’s Warhammer 40,000 Legends partwork series features a stone-cold 40k classic in the shape of Xenos by Dan Abnett. Originally published way back in 2001 and intended to tie in with Games Workshop’s latest game Inquisitor, it subsequently spawned two more books to complete the Eisenhorn trilogy, several short stories and audio dramas, a further trilogy featuring Eisenhorn’s protégé Ravenor, one book of a potential further trilogy (Pariah, which may or may not end up with two more novels to form a third trilogy), and computer game. Suffice to say it’s been quite popular.

And the winner is… #my40klegend competition

A couple of weeks ago I announced that I was running a competition to win a full subscription to the new Warhammer 40,000 Legends partwork collection, courtesy of the kind folks over at Hachette. The competition was pretty easy to enter – just get in touch with me on the blog, Facebook or Twitter and, using the hashtag #my40klegend, let me know who your favourite 40k character is from the Black Library catalogue.

Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue One - The First Heretic

Warhammer 40,000 Legends Issue One – First Impressions

The Warhammer 40,000 Legends collection from Hachette and Black Library has officially launched, and I’ve got my hands on Issue One to take a close look at, featuring fan favourite The First Heretic by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Before we take a look at the book itself though, let’s take a step back and talk about the collection as a whole…

Warhammer 40,000 Legends on Track of Words

The Warhammer 40,000 Legends collection. 80 hardback 40k and Horus Heresy books, complete with some lovely new art across the spines. Cool, right? I’ve got a competition running to win a subscription, and I’ve got reviews on the way looking at the books themselves. I’m a fan already, and I think it’s going to be awesome. I’m going to be totally open about this though…
