April has come and gone in a flash, so it’s time to look back at another month’s worth of novel, short story and audio drama reviews to pull together my Monthly Highlights. It’s been another excellent month in terms of the standard of stories I’ve been reading and reviewing, but one particular author – and one story especially – stands out as an absolute highlight. As usual I’ve also picked a couple of honourable mentions from among everything else I’ve read, and this month all three of my choices are Black Library stories. With that in mind, let’s crack straight on.

Monthly Highlights – March 2018
April is upon us, and we’re more than a quarter of the way through 2018 already! Once again I’m taking a look back through the last month’s worth of books, short stories and audio dramas to pull together my highlights for March; choosing a favourite story out of the eighteen that I reviewed in March was tricky, but I’ve just about managed it. As with the last couple of Monthly Highlights posts I’ve chosen a single story as the main highlight, plus a couple more for notable mentions.
Monthly Highlights – February 2018
Welcome to March! 2018 is two months down already, if you can believe it, and in February I posted twenty-one reviews of books, short stories and audio dramas here on Track of Words. As with last month, when I published my first Monthly Highlights article, I’m taking a quick look back at everything I read and pulling out a few highlights. Once again I’ve picked a single story to be the main highlight, along with a couple that merit notable mentions.
Last month I went with an audio drama as my main highlight, but while February was chock full of short stories, this time I’m going with a novel – although once again it’s something I picked up as a pre-release at an event. February’s highlight for me was Wolfsbane by Guy Haley, the 49th novel in the Horus Heresy series. Check out my review here.
Monthly Highlights – January 2018
It’s February already – we’re a full month into 2018, and in that first month I’ve posted no fewer than sixteen reviews of books, short stories and audio dramas on Track of Words. I thought it might be fun this year to take a regular look back at what I’ve read each month, and pick out some highlights – for the time being I’m just going to call this Monthly Highlights but I’m open to suggestions for a catchier title! I’ll try to keep things reasonably brief, focusing on the one story each month which I feel was a particular highlight, as well as a couple of notable mentions.
For this, the inaugural Monthly Highlights for January 2018, I’m going for an audio drama, rather than a book – Titans’ Bane by Chris Dows. Click on this link or the image below to check out my review.
