Monthly Roundup – March 2022

Hello and welcome to my Monthly Roundup post for March 2022, here on Track of Words. As always, this article gives me an opportunity to look back at what I posted in the preceding month, with links to each post if you’d like to check any of them out, and also to talk a little bit about how the month went as a whole. It’s been a strange few weeks for me, during which I’ve read a lot more than I expected to – despite spending almost no time listening to audiobooks – and written way more reviews than normal, but also struggled badly to find time or enthusiasm for putting together interviews, writing articles, or planning ahead. It’s certainly not been the sort of month I expected it to be.

Monthly Roundup – February 2022

Hello and welcome to another Monthly Roundup post here on Track of Words, where today I’m going to take a look back through everything I posted in February, and talk a bit about how the month went as a whole. I slowed down a little bit further in February, with just nine new posts and one new site page, but as I’ll talk about later on I think I’ve maybe found a new rhythm for working on the site so perhaps this is going to be the new norm. We’ll see! As usual though, I’m quite happy with what I did get written, and I’ve had a pretty good week when it comes to reading.

Monthly Roundup – January 2022

Somehow another month has gone past and it’s already the end of January, which means it’s time for my first Monthly Roundup post of 2022. After the craziness of December when I kept myself incredibly busy with my Advent Calendar series, I deliberately toned things down a bit for January to give myself a bit of a rest, and while I’ve still put together ten articles and two new site pages, it’s been good to slow down a little. While I may not have written as much as I have done in previous months, it’s been a really busy month on the reading front, and I’ve spent a fair amount of time looking ahead and planning posts that I’m hoping to deliver later in the year.

Monthly Roundup – December 2021

Hello, and welcome to my Monthly Roundup post here on Track of Words. We’ve reached the end of December (not to mention the end of another year), and it’s been a busy few weeks here with a post every day from the 1st to the 25th as part of my Advent Calendar series. I really couldn’t be happier with how this turned out, and I’m incredibly grateful to all of the authors (and one editor) who contributed to the Advent series! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading all of the interviews, guest reviews, guest articles and everything else (including a brand new piece of original fiction) as much as I enjoyed working on them. If you haven’t had a chance to read them all I’ve included all of the relevant links below, and as usual as well as talking about this month’s new posts I’ll give a bit of a general update for the month.

Monthly Roundup – November 2021

Hello, and welcome to my Monthly Roundup post for November, here on Track of Words. Life continues to be up and down a little bit, and I’ve been kept busy this month trying to find a suitable balance between all the things I want to be doing now that I’ve started my new job out in the real world. Nevertheless, this is my tenth post on Track of Words in November, so that’s two up on October – I was aiming for 12 or 13 this month, but 10 isn’t bad. I’m also pretty happy with how these posts have come out, and (pleasantly) surprised that I’ve found both the time and headspace to write six reviews and publish the first ever guest review on the site. In these roundups I’ve repeatedly talked about being hopeful that I can get into a more productive headspace each month, but this time I’m actually quietly confident that I will be able to do that – check out the general update section later on for a few thoughts on what I’ve got planned for December!

Monthly Roundup – October 2021

Hello, and welcome to my Monthly Roundup post for October, here on Track of Words. At risk of sounding like a broken record, life’s been somewhat up and down recently, and October was definitely more down than up. I’ve had a hard time concentrating on Track of Words, so I only managed seven new posts this month (eight, including this one)…but hopefully that’s seven good posts, at least! All things considered I’m actually very pleased with these, partly because between them they cover quite a lot of ground and partly because I’m just really pleased with how some of them have come out (despite everything). Only time will tell whether I get back to a more productive state next month, but hopefully there’s been at least something you’ve enjoyed in October!

Monthly Roundup – September 2021

Hello, and welcome to this Monthly Roundup post here on Track of Words. While August was an unusually quiet month, I got back up to speed in September with twelve new posts – thirteen if you include this one! It felt great to be back in the swing of things, working on a variety of different pieces. I feel like I managed a good balance in September, with a range of book reviews, author interviews and blog articles, and I’ve even managed to catch up with my backlog of reviews in order to (for once) have a supply of new content ready and waiting to be published. Whether or not I can maintain this sort of progress for long remains to be seen, but at least it’s worked out well for September!

Monthly Roundup – August 2021

Hello, and welcome to this Monthly Roundup post here on Track of Words. August has been a quiet month for me on the Track of Words front, even more so than recently – this article I’m writing now is only the fourth I’ve published in the whole month, which is by far the lowest number for years. I feel like a bit of a broken record with how many times I’ve said something similar recently, but I really have found it hard working on new content in August, for various reasons (including my health). Or at least, hard working on the usual reviews and so on – I’ve actually been busy with some new elements of site structure and navigation, which you may have noticed if you’ve had a look at the menus recently.

Monthly Roundup – July 2021

Another month has come around as quickly as ever, so it’s time for my usual Monthly Roundup here on Track of Words, where today I’m looking back at what’s been going on during the month of July. I feel like a bit of a broken record in these articles, as for a while now I’ve been talking about having slow months, but July has in fact been my quietest month for over a year – this article you’re reading will be my 10th and final one of the month. Life seems to be getting in the way a bit more than usual right now, with job hunting and illness being the headline hurdles alongside a general sense of finding it difficult to concentrate on writing, but hopefully it won’t be too long before I’m back in the swing of things. Fingers crossed, anyway!

Monthly Roundup – June 2021

Hello and welcome to this Monthly Roundup article here on Track of Words, where I’m looking back at what’s been happening over the month of June. For various reasons it’s been another quiet month, which has meant I’ve only managed 11 posts – mostly reviews – but to be honest I’m pretty pleased I got even that much done! As usual, for the first part of this article I’ll do a quick retrospective of those 11 posts, complete with links so that if you’ve missed anything over the last few weeks you can go take a look. Once that’s done I’ll do a general update with a few quick observations on the month as a whole.
