Hello and welcome to this Track of Words Author Interview, where today I’m welcoming Robbie MacNiven back to the site to talk about his new book The Gates of Thelgrim, which is his second contribution to Aconyte Books’ range of Descent novels. As someone who’s been introduced to this setting by the novels, rather than playing the games, I’m really enjoying getting to know more about Descent, and this book promises to deliver loads more subverted tropes and fun fantasy entertainment. It’s available now as a global ebook and US paperback, with the UK paperback coming in November.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: David Guymer Talks The Shield of Daqan
Welcome to this Track of Words Author Interview – today I’m speaking to David Guymer about his new novel The Shield of Daqan, which is coming very soon from Aconyte Books as part of their range of Descent: Journeys in the Dark fiction. I asked David for the lowdown on the story, the characters, and his take on the Descent world. If you’re a fan of David’s Warhammer fiction and are keen to see him explore a slightly different, somewhat less grim and dark setting, this looks like being the perfect opportunity! It’s due out as a global ebook and US paperback on the 2nd February, with the UK paperback coming a little bit later on the 15th April.

Over the course of the last year or two I’ve been dipping my toe into a few other IPs and really enjoying the results, so in this article I’m going to pick out a few recommendations for anyone who’s keen to try exploring a new world or two.

Robbie MacNiven’s first novel for Aconyte Books, The Doom of Fallowhearth is the first in a new series of novels set in Terrinoth, the world of Descent: Journeys in the Dark. When Lady Kathryn, the Baroness of Forthyn’s daughter, disappears under strange circumstances, three of the legendary Borderlands Four reunite to search for the missing noblewoman. While their best years might be behind them, these most famous of adventurers bravely (or rather reluctantly, in the case of ageing rogue Logan Lashley) head north to the town of Fallowhearth to search for signs of what caused Lady Kathryn’s disappearance. Little do they appreciate the danger they’re stepping into, however, as their search brings them into conflict with suspicious locals, lurking monsters and a powerful darkness hiding in the sinister Blind Muir forest.
