Hello and welcome to Track of Words for this SFF Community Spotlight interview, where I’m thrilled to be chatting to Sarah Deeming, Reviews Editor for the British Fantasy Society! In this ongoing series of interviews I’m celebrating and promoting the work of the bloggers and reviewers who put so much time and effort into making the science fiction and fantasy book community such a great place, and I was really keen to talk to Sarah as both a reviewer herself and the person in charge of reviews at the BFS. If you’re not already following the BFS reviews, head over to the website and check it out – there’s loads of good stuff there.

A Few Thoughts On: Legacy of Steel by Matthew Ward
I’m delighted to have another review live on the British Fantasy Society website, this time for Legacy of Steel by Matthew Ward – the sequel to Legacy of Ash, and the second book in the epic (in every sense of the word) Legacy Trilogy. I’m not going to just reprint the review – here’s the link to the BFS website so you can read it in full – but I feel like this article should be more than just a paragraph and a link. As such, I thought I would use this space to talk a bit about the series (so far) as a whole, and my experience of reading Legacy of Steel, which was a little unusual for me.
Continue readingGoldilocks by Laura Lam – via the British Fantasy Society
I’ve got another review for you over at the British Fantasy Society website, this time for the brand new sci-fi thriller Goldilocks by Laura Lam, so named for the ‘Goldilocks Zone’, the region of space around a star in which human-habitable worlds might exist. I do love a good space travel story, although considering it largely takes place on a spaceship on its way to another planet, this one turned out to be unexpectedly relevant to current events taking place right now! As usual, you’re very welcome to go straight over to the BFS website if you’d like to just read the review, but I thought I’d talk a little bit more about the book here.
Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri – via the British Fantasy Society
I’m pleased to say that my review of Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri is now live on the British Fantasy Society website – pleased not just to have another review available but because it’s for a book which I absolutely adored! I generally try to choose books I think I’m going to enjoy, but this one was something quite special. Feel free to head straight over there and check out the review, or alternatively you can stick around here and read a bit more about why this is such a great book in a less formal/more rambling fashion (and then pop over to the BFS site afterwards, of course).
The Spider Dance by Nick Setchfield – via the British Fantasy Society
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything for the British Fantasy Society, but I’m delighted to say that my latest book review is now live – for The Spider Dance by Nick Setchfield, a tremendously enjoyable occult thriller from Titan Books. You can read that review by clicking on this link, but I want to take a moment to add a few more informal thoughts about this book here, to accompany the link. Of course, if you would rather skip straight to the review then feel free to head over to the BFS website – I don’t mind, honest!
