The 2019 Black Library Weekender – the sixth such event, held at the Belfry Hotel in Nottingham – has come and gone, and I’m gradually getting back to normality, a little lighter in the wallet but filled with energy and excitement off the back of a great couple of days. In this article I’m going to try and give an overview of how the event felt (to me) and why I enjoyed it so much, including a few highlights of the seminars I made it to and some comments on the upcoming titles announced at the end of the event. There’s lots to cover, so if you’re only interested in certain areas feel free to click the links below and head straight to a particular section.

The Black Library Weekender 2019 – How to Prepare and Avoid Spoilers
The 2019 Black Library Weekender is fast approaching, and looking at the schedule there’s an impressive range of seminars lined up for the weekend, covering multiple settings and series, writing skills, audio dramas…there’s a lot of variety. With so many topics on offer, not only are there going to be some tricky decisions to make regarding which sessions to attend, but it’s not going to be easy to make sure you’re up to speed on all of the books being discussed. In this article I’m going to go through the schedule and talk a bit about how to prepare for each of the sessions – i.e. which books to try and make sure you’ve read beforehand so that you know what’s being discussed and can avoid spoilers.
The Black Library Weekender 2018 – Roundup
It’s the week after the Black Library Weekender, and I’m slowly catching up on life and processing all of the fun and excitement of two days spent absorbed in the worlds of Black Library and Warhammer. As usual after one of these events, I want to talk a bit about how it all went, so in this article I’ll try to provide an overview of the Weekender as a whole as well as a few highlights of the seminars I attended, and the news and information I gathered (at least, all that I can remember!). I’ll do my best to be concise, but there’s going to be lots to talk about because it was another phenomenal Weekender!
Black Library Weekender 2018 – A Survival Guide
The 2018 Black Library Weekender is rapidly approaching, and it promises to be a great weekend at the Nottingham Belfry (3rd and 4th November, in case you were wondering). I’ve been to all of the Black Library Weekenders so far, and a few of the Horus Heresy Weekenders too, so I’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect – barring surprises, at least. There’s going to be a lot going on, and I find it’s usually best to try and plan ahead and get organised before the event kicks off. In this article I’m going to take a look at the sort of preparations you might want to think about, and offer some suggestions for how to get the most out of the event.
Black Library Weekender 2017 – Roundup
It’s been three years since the last one, but the weekend of the 18th/19th November 2017 saw the triumphant return of the Black Library Weekender. I’m sure there will have already been plenty of write-ups after the event, but I thought I’d take a quick look at some of the highlights from my perspective. I say ‘quick look’, but if I know anything I know my tendency to ramble…so apologies in advance for when this turns into something ridiculously long. That being said, I’m going to try and keep it to highlights, rather than a blow by blow recreation of the weekend!
