The second short audio of Guy Haley’s Prophets of Waaagh! collection, Bozgat’s Big Adventure follows on from The End of Daze and sees the titular Bozgat setting off in search of his madboy friend/pet Talker. Accompanied only by the grot Frikk, Bozgat rides out across the dunes and finds his way to a crashed ork ship, where the tracks of a single ork lead. While the cowardly Frikk waits for him outside, Bozgat explores the crashed ship which, upon further examination, appears to be surprisingly devoid of actual orks. Plenty of grots, though…

QUICK REVIEW: The End of Daze – Guy Haley
The first of three short 40k audio dramas making up the Prophets of Waaagh! collection, Guy Haley’s The End of Daze continues the story of Big Mek Uggrim and his Red Sunz boys. After having crashed onto a “squig’s arse-end of a planet”, Uggrim is desperate to get his beloved stompa Fat Mork back operational and walking again, but a lack of decent grots is hampering his repairs. It’s not long, however, before rival mek Grimgutz shows his face, and Uggrim realises that there’s more going on than just useless grots letting him down.
QUICK REVIEW: Klaw of Mork – Guy Haley
A 36-minute 40k audio drama set during the Sanctus Reach campaign, Klaw of Mork takes the bickering, backstabbing orkish entertainment of Engine of Mork and Evil Sun Rising and turns the volume up to eleven. Following on from the events of Evil Sun Rising, Uggrim and Snikgob are happily working away on Big Mek Mogrok’s new weapon – a traktor kannon that’s slowly pulling a comet down to the surface of Alaric Prime. After their peace is disturbed by the presence of a rival mek, it’s not long before an opportunity arises to get their own back on the annoying Dagogg.
Hunger – Andy Smillie
Continuing Andy Smillie’s exploration of the Flesh Tearers Chapter of Space Marines, Hunger is an hour-long audio drama pitting Gabriel Seth and his brothers against Genestealers in the depths of a Space Hulk. As Seth leads his Honour Guard ever deeper in search of the controlling presence at the centre of the Genestealer brood, Chaplain Appollus wrestles with his own inner daemons even as he prepares to lead the Death Company into battle. Seth and the Flesh Tearers must stave off the Rage long enough to find victory, and discover just what lies at the heart of the ancient vessel.
QUICK REVIEW: Guns of the Black Eagle – CL Werner
A short Age of Sigmar audio drama, CL Werner’s Guns of the Black Eagle is twenty minutes of sheer fun as two Kharadon Overlords captains vie for honour and profits, holding fast to the letter – if not the spirit – of the Kharadron Code. The Black Eagle, under the captaincy of Grimgar Odriksson, is being pursued by the piratical sky-captain Skarskorr Halfbeard, but Grimgar is determined to keep control of the aether-gold filling his ship’s holds. As Endrinmaster Thorgrad looks on, Grimgar and Skarskorr engage in a battle of ships, crews and wits, with neither one prepared to back down.
Martyrs of Elysia – Chris Dows
Chris Dows’ audio drama Martyrs of Elysia is the third and final instalment in the series that began with Scions of Elysia and continued with Renegades of Elysia, detailing the dangerous accusations levelled against Veteran Sergeant Zachariah and his efforts to clear his name. As he’s questioned by the relentless Commissar Mastroval, Zachariah relives a frenetic, fateful assault on the rebel-held world of Veyland Sinestre and the culmination of his ongoing feud with a senior officer, whose murder he’s been accused of. All the while Mastroval keeps digging – into Zachariah’s actions, his loyalties, and his history.
The Darkness in the Glass – David Annandale, David Guymer & Guy Haley
A collection of three Shadespire-set Age of Sigmar audio dramas, each released initially as part of the 2017 Advent Calendar, The Darkness in the Glass consists of Doombound by David Annandale, A Place of Reflection by David Guymer and The Autumn Prince by Guy Haley. With a collected running time of around 70 minutes, each of the audios is only short, but they tell three standalone, unconnected stories featuring a range of different characters – Stormcast, Bloodbound, and an aelven prince among others. Set within the confines of Shadespire, they each show a different aspect of the Mirrored City.
Legends of Bilgewater: Tall Tales of the Deep Sea – Anthony Reynolds
A multi-part League of Legends audio drama, Legends of Bilgewater: Tall Tales of the Deep Sea consists of a series of interlinked stories by Anthony Reynolds that are equal parts superstitious sailor tales and moral stories. In a busy dockside bar in Bilgewater, old seadog Lars spins stories of meeting legendary figures like Nautilus and Tahm Kench in exchange for keeping him in his cups. Though he keeps his audience entertained with fantastical stories of his youthful exploits, there’s a darkness running through his tales – these legends of the sea rarely end well, after all.
Blackshields: The Red Fief – Josh Reynolds
Following on from the excellent Horus Heresy audio drama Blackshields: The False War, Josh Reynolds returns to ex-World Eater Endryd Haar in a second audio, Blackshields: The Red Fief. In the aftermath of his mission on Xana-Tisiphone, Haar is being courted by Malcador, who wants to make use of Endryd, or the weapons he recently acquired, as part of the loyalists’ defence against Horus. Wracked with indecision about whether to commit to the Sigillite’s goals, Haar leads his warriors in a raid on a World Eaters fief world to gather supplies and hopefully recruit an old ally to his cause.
Agent of the Throne: Truth and Dreams – John French
The second audio drama in John French’s Agent of the Throne series, part of the wider Horusian Wars arc, Truth and Dreams once again finds Ianthe in reflective mood as she relates the tale of another mission. This time she’s on the trail of Silas Norn, a rogue psyker capable of horrifying manipulation if he can get close enough to touch. When her hunt results in both Ianthe and Norn being imprisoned in the same high-security facility it becomes a contest of wills as much as anything, between the powerful Norn and the ferociously driven, determined Ianthe.
